Toastmasters Clubs (Johor Bahru) Joint Installation Night

Eight Toastmasters Clubs in Johor Bahru held their joint installation dinner on July 11th, 2009 at Austin Hill Golf Resort. Lead by Micheal Chu and E T Lee as advisor. I would say it was good effort and excellent team work. JB City was entrusted to be at the main entrance to welcome members and guests. Our members came full force and dressed beautifully for the occasion. Lead by President Nancy Kwan, they did an excellent job!

The entire evening was filled with good shows, great speakers, stage performances, and recognition. World Class speaker, DTM Loga were there to share with us the secret of being a Champion. He shared with us a few tips to be a successful speaker and I remember this very clearly, Always bench mark yourself with Non-Toastmasters, meaning look out for world's best speaker outside Toastmasters' world. Thank you DTM Loga!

Evelyn & Nash was given a task to spice up the evening, and I must say they were awesome!

Dzulhairy, Raaj & Jasveen were very brave to be on stage taking part in table topics session!

The evening would have been more impact full had they emphasise on the stage lighting's, its a pity they had various cultural performances but it was not highlighted nicely, the food was just average.

I enjoyed the evening, had the opportunity to network, and our long lost friend Kamal Rajan came all the way from Melbourne Australia!

MEETING NO. 206 (23 FEB 2009)

The JB City Toastmasters Club's 206th meeting held on 23rd February 2009 at Grand Paragon Hotel Johor Bahru was yet another fantastic meeting. The meeting was well attended with 17 members, 8 guests & 1 visiting toastmaster.

I was puzzled when TME ACS Rama invited VPE CC Nancy Kwan to the lectern to deliver the opening address even with the presence of our President CC Mohd. Dzulhairy. Later I realised that it was pre-arranged by our President. His intention was to train the potential President. I totally agreed with Mr. President and applauded him for his effort to train and give opportunity to his successor. Kudos to Mr. President!

VPE Nancy Kwan, CC opening address was inspirational and motivating. She urged all of us to stay TOGETHER and be UNITED! As the VPE, it is her duty to ensure that members achieve their educational goals. The Club is doing very well! She said we are like in reality show, whatever we are doing now is for real! Toastmasters Club is the best platform for us to practice the "gift of the gap", sharpen our skills by taking part in speech contests, work together and support each other and become the leader that we want to be!

INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS

We welcomed our 2 new members, TM Umma Devi & TM Rajamani (see photo) and the induction ceremony was conducted by VPM Raaj. Congratulations!

TABLE TOPICS SESSION

Table Topics Master, TM Raaj created various general topics. 4 speakers volunteered to speak. They were CTM Liza Alip, Guest Sophia, ACS Fung Lee Jean, Guest Haw Zan. There was a tie for Best speaker award and it goes to Ms. Haw Zan and ACS Fung Lee Jean, congratulations!

PROJECT SPEECHES

TM Evelyn Nabila Yeo Abdullah presented her Project 7. She spoke on Wong Fok Kee or the famous Wong Ah Fook and ATMB Nash Bhullar gave a toast on special occasion to our former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir. Both speakers were wonderful! Thank you to both of you......

PROJECT EVALUATIONS

The evaluators were TM Nora & ACS Lee Jean for TM Evelyn's & ATMB Nash's speeches respectively. Both evaluators gave many pointers for the speakers and those in the audience learnt from them too.

GENERAL COMMENTS BY GE - CC Mohd Dzulhairy

Overall the meeting was fantastic, good environment and energetic. He thanked all appointment holders, members and guests for their support and attendance.

Most of the guests were impressed with the way that the meeting was conducted. They will come and visit us again.

Next meeting will be held on 2nd March 2009! It will be the Club'sInternational Speech & Table Topics Contests!

"LOVE IS IN THE AIR" - Meeting No. 206th

The last meeting was a rapturous meeting. Rapture was the word of the day, introduced by Language Evaluator, TM Evelyn Nabila Yeo Abdullah. There were 9 members, 6 invited guests and 2 visiting Toastmasters attended the meeting. It was highly energetic meeting. 3 speakers deliverers a wonder full speeches, we got to know TM Prakash through his Ice Breaker's project 1, we learned how to be patience from TM Nora of Johor Bahru Club and beware of the consequences of (being an) obesity by ACB Ramachandran. TM Tee created 5 topics related to Love! All speakers were excited with the session.

Also seen at the meeting our long-lost ex-members Akmal, Rajiv and Shamizan - I was told that Akmal signed up the membership form! Well done VPM Raaj! My Dearest brothers Rajiv & Shamizan what are you waiting for? Judging from your facial expressions and your good comments about the meeting, I believed you were happy at the meeting. Anyway take your time, when you are ready, we will welcome you once again!

I am sorry to say to those who did not attend the last meeting, you definitely missed allot of fun! We are nice people, love to have you around. To keep you in the loop, the following Toastmasters were the best / better in the respective categories:
